Dear Michael,

in this issue
  • Grapplers Gym Forum
  • DVD of the Month # 2
  • General Conditioning by Coach Javorek
  • Lateral Training for Mulit-Sport Athletes
  • Exercise of the Week: Single leg Partner Lifts

  • DVD of the Month # 2

Just wanted to update you that DVD of the month # 2 has shipped. I am sorry for the delay in getting this to you. When we added in the injury rehab section we went over the limit on the DVD so we had to go back and do some major editing of the content.

DVD # 3 is almost completed and will be shipping at the end of next week.

Here is what you can expect to see in this months DVD

    • Grappling Training
    • Kettlebell vs Dumbbells for at home training
    • Rotator Cuff prevention and rehab techniques
    • Flex band & Ab bands training for grapplers

    General Conditioning by Coach Javorek

Here is a great introduction to general conditioning by coach Javorek. This article is a introduction to his training methods and the use of his barbell complexes 1 and 2

    Lateral Training for Mulit-Sport Athletes

Great article on lateral training for anyone who works with multi-sport athletes.

As you know grapplers need to be able to move in all directions to avoid attacks. This article by training expert Peter Twist covers some really good drills and exercises to your athletes

Exercise of the Week: Single leg Partner Lifts

Here is a great exercise with tons of application for our sport. Single leg partner lifts are a great total body exercise that can be done both during practice sessions and while working out.

It is important to remember to get you hips up under you prior to starting the lift to prevent staining your lower back. You can start by working out with a lighter partner and working your way up as your strength grows. In this video my partner is weighing in at 235lbs. You can do this for reps or as part of your single leg training for finishes.

You will see after the video clip an example of where this lift comes in handy. Too many time as a coach I see wrestlers/grapplers who cannot finish a takedown due to not having the strength to lift their opponents

    Grapplers Gym Forum

As you already know some low life felt that it would be fun to add our forum to their trophy case of websites that they destroyed. We are working hard at getting our forum back up and running but as of right now its still down. I will update you as soon as its back up and running.
