John Brookfield is a living legend in the world of grip strength. John has set many records in grip strength from bending steel with his bare hands to tearing decks of cards in half. He has appeared on many TV shows such as the Today Show, and he has been featured in 'Ripleys Believe it or Not' and the 'Guinness Book of Records' for his feats of incredible hand strength

  • World Record Holder for bending 520 60-penny nails in 1 hour 42 minutes.
  • World Record Holder for bending a 20 foot half-inch dia (12mm) steel bar to fit into a small suitcase in 29 seconds.
  • Jon Bruney & John Brookfield set a new World Record in 2005 for pulling a +20,000lb truck for one mile in 1 hour 13 mins

John has achieved these feats of endurance without any specific preparation or training. At 47 years-old, many of John's weekly workouts are as difficult or often more difficult than these:

  • 1200 kettlebell snatches in one hour with a 24kg kettlebell
  • 302 kettlebell snatches with a 24kg kettlebell in the ten minute snatch test
  • 198 kettlebell snatches with a 32kg kettlebell in ten minutes
  • Striking a 23kg hammer into a tire for one hour nonstop (striking pace was 27 to 30 times per minute)

John credits much of his success to his Battling Ropes system. This system enables the user to sustain power and strength of longer durations because it trains and forces the body and mind to use pure velocity.

Dave Schmitz  In 1986 Dave obtained his BS in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Certification from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.   Upon graduation Dave has spent a majority of his career challenging himself physically and mentally to understand how the body "really" functions.  In 1995, Dave became a CSCS and completed his Performance Enhancement Specialist Certification.

Applying this knowledge has allowed him to successfully, train and rehabilitate 1000's of high school and college level athletes as well as many recreational individuals.

In 1997, Dave created PERFORMAX -- Performance Training LLC (www.performax4u.com) to bridge the gap between rehab and performance.  It was also at this time that Dave discovered how a simple 41 inch continuous rubber band made individuals quickly begin to move with greater efficiency and power.

Armed with resistance bands and a strong understanding of the science of movement, Dave took his high energy personality and began teaching and training athletes, coaches, trainers, physical therapist and fitness enthusiast the art of "Functional Reactive Training and Mobilization" using resistance bands.

Since 1997, Dave has continued to develop the Resistance Band F.I.T. (Functionally Integrated Training) System.  This unique movement based reactive training approach has been able to create outstanding results in the area of performance enhancement as it relates to daily activities, dynamic flexibility and "total body" reactive strength and power.  It has also been the key to a substantial decrease in athletic and daily injuries.

Currently, Dave travels throughout the Midwest and Nationally, speaking and sharing with young high school athletes, coaches, fitness experts and physical therapist, how to use a simple 41 inch rubber band to become FAST -- F.I.T. & FLEXIBLE.

He also continues to successfully rehabilitate injuries and holds weekly F.I.T. Band Boot Camps with the simple goal to "Bring Out The Athlete in All of Us".

Dave's mission is simple:

Performance isn't Just for Athletes

It's for everyone!
