    Duck Under to Double leg takedown video clip

    This weeks technique of the week is a great takedown for all grapplers.

    Start with inside control

    throw your opponents arm out and up to create space

    lower your level and penetrate

    block your opponents outside knee and drive with your shoulder.


    Dowel-Band Training for the Trunk

    Are you tired of training your trunk the traditional (and most of the time ineffective) way???

    To better understand why traditional trunk training does not work, I will let you in on the secret of what your trunk muscles really do and how they actual function. Than you can decide if you want to begin incorporating one of my favorite trunk training programs.


    Workout of the Week

    Ok here is this weeks workout of the week. Dont try and be a super hero make sure when your doing this workout you have a training partner to not only to spot for you but to also keep count

    I got the idea for this workout from the master Louie Simmons from westside barbell. This is a workout he likes to do with his grapplers and professional athletes.

    Perform a power clean, lower the weight back to your thighs, perform a hang clean, then perform a push jerk or push press. That is one rep. Perform one rep every 15 seconds for 6 minutes (wrestlers). If your sport requires more time then match the workout to your requirement. Use 35-40% of your 1RM

    Active Recovery

    Active Recovery: This is the fastest way to eliminate waste products after exercise.

    A great tip from Coach Istvan Javorek is to going on a light jog after your workouts. You see during the first 10 minutes of continuous jogging, 60 percent of lactic acid is removed from your system. An additional 26 percent is removed between 10 and 20 minutes. Why is this important? Because it will allow you to not only flush out your system but will allow you to recover faster which will allow for more frequent training sessions. The faster you can get waste out of your system the better.


    USA Wrestling excited to introduce Folkstyle Tour of America

    USA Wrestling is excited to introduce a new youth wrestling series designed to provide wrestlers a chance to compete against the best in the country in America's most popular style of wrestling. The Folkstyle Tour of America youth wrestling series kicks off with the first-ever Carolina Classic slated for November 3rd at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, North Carolina. Dates and locations are being finalized on three other tournaments in Utah, Michigan, and the West Coast.


    Grapplers Gym Seminar

    Want to take a moment and thank all of you who came out to our first annual Grapplers Gym Coaching Seminar. I had a great time training with all of you.
